History & Experience
Clive has over 40 years of experience in the construction industry having worked as a Superintendent, Estimator, Project Manager (GSC), Building Inspector, Chief Building Official, and former owner/operator of a small Toronto-based construction company. He has served as the President of the Ontario General Contractors Association for 20 years where he promoted the industry, facilitated disputes between project partners, promoted education and provided advice on contracts and the supplementary conditions attached to them. He represented the industry at the Construction and Design Alliance of Ontario, a group of related construction industries focused on the renewal of infrastructure and the impact of Government regulations. He also resolved disputes on projects of many sizes and values including commercial, offices, major public projects for the TTC, Metrolinx, Infrastructure Ontario projects including hospitals.

He was actively involved in Health and Safety, bringing the COR® program into Ontario and founded the League of Champions to promote safety practices to young people and industry stakeholders. ​Clive is also a certified Arbiter and Mediator, Project Manager, Building Code Official, MATTO, with an experienced background in Construction Law and a strong belief in consultation. Clive promotes policies that are beneficial to all stakeholders within the construction industry and has consulted with many government officials to provide industry expertise. He was involved with the first Minister of Infrastructure in Ontario helping to organize and guide the creation of the Ministry. His work with many public buyers led to the development of many standardized contract clauses and the development of an Early Dispute Resolution Program adopted by Infrastructure Ontario and other owners helping to eliminate costly disputes and legal fees.

He is a regular speaker at many associations including the Osgoode Law Society and former member of its faculty where he completed his Construction Law Course. He is viewed as a “risk mitigator” helping industry stakeholders avoid poor procurement practice, tendering processes, and interpreting clauses within contracts. He is regularly consulted by many owners and consultants prior to projects being launched to review the documents for project risk pitfalls.
